Become a consignor
To become a Roots consignor, bring in up to 30 items you are interested in consigning, Monday-Saturday between 10am and 4pm. The first time you bring items to consign, our helpful employees will collect your information and get you signed up in our system. You will be charged a one-time $20 consignor fee that will come out of your first earnings. You can then bring in up to 30 items once a day, which if approved, will be added to your account. As your items sell in store, you will receive 40% of the selling price (with a slightly higher percentage for more expensive items). Your earnings will accumulate in your consignor account to be used as store credit or cashed out at a later date. We do all the work to tag, hang and display your items for optimal sales and highest dollars earned! All you do is follow a few simple preparation guidelines and drop them off!
Consignor Guidelines
Guidelines:
Absolutely no stains, odors, tears, pet hair, excess pilling, fading or damage of any kind
Nothing outdated (approximately 5 years since manufacture date)
All items recently cleaned and/or laundered
All items neatly folded or laid flat in box or bin (No bags!)
All items buttoned, snapped, and zipped pretty please
No discount/fast fashion brands such as Shein & Walmart brands
We accept items for any season year round
After drop off
Using our extensive expertise in the resale business, we will price your items according to what the market will bear, with the goal to earn you the most money possible. Your items will be offered for sale at full price for a minimum of 60 days and then be marked down 10% every 30 days thereafter. Items which do not sell after 30 days at 75% off become the property of Roots Consignment, Inc. and at that point, they are offered for purchase at our $1 sales. Profits from $1 sales support local family-friendly causes.
Consignor FAQ
Q: What if I already consign with Beanstalk?
A: That is amazing! You are already familiar with Beanstalk’s walk-in consignment option, which is exactly how Roots works. Monday through Saturday. between 10 and 4, you can bring up to (and no more than) 30 items, which may include ANY season of men’s, women’s or select brands of home goods/decor. You will sign a Roots Consignor Contract the first time you drop off items and agree to pay a one-time $20 consignment fee, deducted from your first earnings. This fee offsets some of the cost of account management and supplies. To make your life easier, store credit will be available to spend across both stores!
Q: Besides adult clothing, what items will Roots consignment accept?
A: Of course we will enjoy assessing your current, VERY gently used, new or like new accessories, including shoes, hand bags, sunglasses, hats, etc. We are also happy to look at, but will accept a very select, curated collection of jewelry.
Q: What is your home department all about?
A: We would love to have your excellent condition, VERY current home goods and decor. As these items take a lot of display space and will not readily sell unless they are very current and on trend, we will be the most selective in this category. Brands we love to see in our home department include Crate and Barrel, C2, West Elm, Zara Home, RH, Pottery Barn, Ballard Designs, Anthropologie Home, Serena & Lily, Arhaus, William Sonoma and Magnolia.
Q: Will Roots specialize in certain brands or authenticate couture items?
A: Please note: at the present time, we have decided NOT to use an outside service to authenticate very high end/couture merchandise. While we would love to have your Louis Vuittons, there are honestly better options in our area that can quite possibly garner a better price for you. Roots’ niche in the resale market will be awesome stuff (whether it be from Target or Paris Fashion Week) at a price that will make both the consignor and the shopper do a happy dance!
Q: What items will you absolutely NOT accept?
A: Any items that are broken, stained, recalled, or dangerous; underwear that is not new in the package; anything alive (like pets or plants); freebies, swag, or promotional giveaway items; and any items that are dirty or have a strong odor.
Q: How do I get paid once my items have sold?
A: Money accumulated in your account can be used as store credit in either of our sister stores, with a 5% bonus applied to in-store purchases,. Alternatively, you can cash out all or part of your balance anytime you like in store. If your account balance is greater than $100, we are happy to mail a check to the address on file. Please call the store (do not email) for this service. You will be given access to a consignor portal such that you can know what has sold and what your account balance is at anytime!
